Started in 1971, the heartbeat of the founder the Late Bishop Festo Kivengere was evangelism. This can further be traced from the Mission Statement “Evangelizing cities of Africa through Word and Deed in partnership with the Church”. This was aimed at offering holistic ministry evangelism and extending Love and Care to the vulnerable as Christ did.

However in our endeavors to reach the people in these places, effectiveness can only be reached if there is a partnership built with the existing churches. This is because, when we receive new converts in this mission ground, a systematic referral plan is done to have these people followed up so as to be disciples for their spiritual growth. So if the church participates in the planning and executing process, it becomes easy for them to follow up and nurture the new converts.

As we plan to carry on our missions in a Specific place, we work in partnership still with other parachurch organizations such as Rzim, S.U, Focus, Navigators, Life ministry, Alpha, Explore team, GLS and many others.

Our mission strategy of effectively reaching out to all people in the city is done in 2 ways.

  1. Stratified evangelism. This is where people are reached with the gospel in their small stratum so as to have them be ministered to in a language they are comfortable. E.g Boda boda riders together, prostitutes, civic leaders, street kids, security leaders etc.
  2. Leadership missions. These missions only target leaders in a given city. Its pointed at reaching out to these leaders in a city in their groups still. This is done through holding Luncheons, Breakfasts, Dinners depending on which time a certain group is comfortable with.

The main reason why cities are targeted is due to the fact that a city dweller can easily influences to a rural dweller. This means therefore, it is easy to have the gospel spread to the rural dwellers once the city dwellers have received it.

Mission activities in a city are planned for in 3 phases. These includes:

  1. Planning phase:

Which involves Visiting of the city, having Joshua and Caleb done, vision casting, kingdom mindset meetings, evangelism and discipleship trainings, fundraising, prayer mobilization, steering committee launch and meetings, zoning up the mission field etc. this is aimed at preparing and leveling ground for an effective mission.

  1. Proclamation phase:

This is the actual time of evangelism. It’s the time the word is shared in all spaces of that city. This is done through activities of engagement such as, town cleaning, Door to Door, Mobile rallies, Leadership events, medical camps, School ministry, Marketplace evangelism, Film ministry, children ministry, street evangelism, church ministry etc. At this stage, all evangelists are released to the mission field to reach one and touch all.

  1. Preservation phase:

After the good news has been proclaimed, there are so many people who make decisions when the good news is shared. These people always need to be natured so as to grow and get rooted in the word and in their spiritual life. Therefore it’s prudent to have a follow up program which is aimed at effectively having these new converts referred to churches under a clear referral system.
